Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026
NOPE (“we”, “us”) helps you quit fast food. We care about your privacy and collect only what the app needs to work. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

NOPE is operated by Nicolás Alberdi (Barcelona, Spain), the data controller for this policy. If you have any questions, contact us at nopeapp.support@gmail.com.

1. Information we collect

Location

With your permission, NOPE uses your precise location, including in the background, to detect when you are near a fast-food franchise and send you a timely reminder (the “radar”). This processing happens on your device: your location is not transmitted to or stored on our servers, and it is never sold. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings; the radar will stop working, but the rest of the app continues to function.

Motion & activity

With your permission, NOPE reads motion and activity data from your device to tell whether you are moving or stationary, which improves the accuracy of the radar (for example, to avoid alerting you when you are simply walking past a location). This data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers. You can disable this in your device settings.

Account & community

If you create an account or use community features, we collect the information you provide, such as your email address, name, profile details, photos you post, group (“clan”) membership, and messages you post. This is stored on our backend provider (Supabase) so your data syncs across sessions and the community features work.

Onboarding & health information

During onboarding you may provide information such as your weight, eating habits and goals. This is stored securely with your account on our backend (Supabase) and used solely to personalize your plan and progress metrics. It is never sold or shared for advertising, and it is deleted when you delete your account.

Usage analytics

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the app is used (for example, which screens are viewed and which features are used). This data is collected under a randomly generated anonymous identifier and is not linked to your name, email or account identity. We do not use it for advertising and we do not share it with data brokers or ad networks. Analytics data is processed in the United States.

Subscriptions & purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We receive your subscription status (active or not) to unlock features, but we do not receive or store your payment card details.

AI coach (chat)

If you use the in-app coach/chat, the messages you send are processed by OpenAI to generate a response. Do not share sensitive personal information you would not want processed by a third party in the chat.

Information stored on your device

Your progress data — such as streaks, relapses, urges resisted and reminder settings — is stored locally on your device. Some progress (for example, streak length for the leaderboard) may be synced to our backend if you use the community features.

2. How we use your information

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers needed to run NOPE:

These providers process data on our behalf and may store it outside your country, including the United States.

4. Data retention

We keep your account and community data while your account is active. Data stored on your device stays until you delete the app. Anonymous analytics data is retained by our analytics provider for up to one year. You can request deletion of your account data at any time (see your rights below).

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can delete your account and its data at any time from the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account), or email us at nopeapp.support@gmail.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6. Children

NOPE is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
